Hélène Azenor (June 21, 1910 - March 12, 1999) was a French painter. Hélène Azénor ahd an affair with Valentine Penrose and noted in her diary that the author had projected several features of her own onto the protagonist of the novel.

The painter, after studying art, found her consecration in the group of Parisian artists of Montparnasse during the thirties where she frequented the surrealist artists and became friends with Paul Éluard and Jean Cocteau. In addition to her ability as an artist, she was well known at the time for her never hidden homosexuality and for her frequentation of the first Parisian clubs for a lesbian clientele, such as Le Sélect and Le Monocle. To work, even as an illustrator for magazines, she was forced to hide often under pseudonyms. She also left an interesting series of monotypes and engravings. Her critical contribution has seen the collaboration with important French newspapers.
