Giorgio Armani (July 11, 1934 - September 4, 2025) was an Italian fashion designer. He was known today for his clean, tailored lines. He formed his company, Armani, in 1975, and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer of Italian origin,[2] with an annual turnover of $1.6 billion and a personal fortune of $8.1 billion as of 2017.[3] He was credited with pioneering red-carpet fashion.[4]

Armani was an intensely private man, but had publicly identified as bisexual. He had a longstanding relationship with his business partner, the architect Sergio Galeotti, who died of a heart attack in 1985.[24][25][26]

La Capannina di Franceschi, simply known as La Capannina, is a historic club in Forte dei Marmi, LU, was very famous in the 1960s and 1970s. The nightclub is still in business and open all year round. La Capannina holds the record as the oldest dance club and restaurant in the world and has never changed its name since it opened. At La Capannina, in 1966, Giorgio Armani, the future iconic designer, met Sergio Galeotti from Pietrasanta, the town bordering Forte dei Marmi. Their relationship with Galeotti was a long one, from the 1960s until 1985, when Armani's partner died of leukemia. In 2025, 40 years after Galeotti’s death, Armani bought La Capannina, wanting to revamp the club. Unfortunately he died less than a month after.

Speaking with the Financial Times, Armani stated that he sees his succession as a gradual handover to some of his closest collaborators and family. “My succession plans consist of a gradual transition of the responsibilities I have always assumed towards Leo Dell’Orco, the members of my family and the work team," he told the news outlet.
