Thomas Wayne Harrison (1804 - October 30, 1871) was born in Westmorland—specifically baptized in Kirkby Stephen on October 23, 1803—as the son of Thomas
Harrison (a gentleman of Staveley, Westmorland, and Queen's College, Oxford graduate) and Eleanor Rudd. He attended Richmond School in Yorkshire under the
education of Mr. Edwards and Rev. Jas. Tate. Continuing his education at Christ's College, Cambridge, he was admitted as a pensioner on February 4, 1822,
matriculated in Michaelmas 1822, became a scholar in 1823, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 1827. During his university years, he was also
associated as a member of the Cambridge Apostles.
Harrison pursued a career in the Church, being ordained as a deacon on January 13, 1833 (with letters dimissory on January 10, 1833, under Bishop John
Bird Sumner of Chester) and as a priest in 1834. His early ecclesiastical appointments included being licensed as a curate at Birstall on March 2, 1833. He
later served as the curate of Compton-Dundon in Somerset from 1847 to 1863, and subsequently as the vicar of the same parish from 1863 until his death.
On December 19, 1866, he married Maria Pearson Crispin at Dodbrooke, Devon. They had a son named Thomas Theodore Harrison, born in 1867. Thomas Wayne
Harrison passed away on October 30, 1871, at the age of 67, and was buried on November 4, 1871, at Saint Andrew Churchyard in Compton Dundon, where a
marble tablet was erected by the parishioners in his honor alongside a memorial window dedicated to him and his son.
