Wesley Alfred "Wessie" Russell (June 14, 1929 - October 24, 2008) was born to Anita and Wes Russell in Mill Valley, and resided in San Francisco since 1952. Russell met his partner, Richard Casilac (June 18, 1929 - December 11, 2001), in 1953, sharing 48 loving years until Richard's death in 2001. He met Robert "Goat" Conrad in 2002, with whom he shared love until his death. A branch manager for Gibraltar S&L, Russell retired early to volunteer extensively with hospice during the AIDS epidemic. Upon retirement, Russell took off his business suit and never to put it back on. As his hair and beard flourished, so did his exploration of life. In 1987 Russell discovered the Radical Faeries. Changed forever, he also found soulmates in the Billy Community. He was funny, bright, wild, full-hearted and wise, sweet, generous and deeply loved.

Wessie Russell died at home, on October 24, 2008, after a life of love, laughter and friendship. He was survived by his partner Goat.
