Tennessee Celeste Claflin (October 26, 1844 – January 18, 1923), often known as "Tennie," was a prominent 19th-century American reformer, suffragist, and financial pioneer.

Born in Homer, Ohio, Tennessee was the youngest of ten children in an impoverished family. Alongside her sister, Victoria Woodhull, she became a central figure in the spiritualist and early women's rights movements.

The sisters traveled the Midwest as spiritualist healers and clairvoyants.

In 1870, with the financial backing of Cornelius Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Victoria became the first women to open a brokerage firm on Wall Street.

They co-founded Woodhull & Claflin's Weekly, a radical newspaper that advocated for women's suffrage, sexual freedom, and political reform.

Following various legal and social scandals in the United States, Tennessee moved to England, where she married the wealthy merchant Francis Cook in 1885. Upon his death and the inheritance of his titles, she became known as Lady Cook and the Viscountess of Monserrate.

The sisters' legacy is often connected to the foundations of the movement due to their radical advocacy for "Free Love". The "Free Love" movement they championed argued that individuals—regardless of gender—should have the legal and natural right to choose their affectional and sexual partners without government interference or societal stigma. Because this philosophy challenged traditional marriage structures and state control over private relationships, historians often view their work as a precursor to the modern fight for bodily autonomy and LGBTQ rights.
