Robert Tanella (1950 - December 16, 1992) was a costumer for film, stage, and TV, including 10 seasons of Cheers. Later he was on the "Cheers" crew and had been with the show for 10 seasons.

His numerous TV credits as a costumer, costume supervisor or costume master included "The Tortellis," "Brothers," "The Two of Us," "The Associates," "CPO Sharkey," "Fun Factory," "The Carol Burnett Show" and "Maggie" and pilots for "Leonard," "You and Me," "Rag Business," "Gung Ho!" and "Highcliffe Manor."

Tanella also worked on TV specials for Bette Midler, Mac Davis, Bing Crosby and Diana Ross, among others.

Feature credits were Warner Bros.' "Personal Best" and "First Family."

Among his Broadway credits were "Mack & Mabel," "The Ritz," "Lorelei," "Jesus Christ, Superstar," and "Bette Midler's Clams on the Half Shell."

Tanella was a 1972 graduate of Fordham University.

His companion of eight years was Mark Gerstner.

He died on December 16, 1992, at 42 years old, at his home in Los Angeles of complications from AIDS.
