Frans
Toethuis (1910-1989) was an employee for the fashion-house 'New England'. On a picture of three gay friends on the beach in Zandvoort, Frans Toethuis is the one in the middle, with a rolled up drawing or poster between his knees. The man to the left of him is Hein Jorissen, the name of the young man on his right, without jacket, is unknown. The picture is from an estate which was kept hidden for a long time and decorates the book by Klaus Müller about the persecution of gays during the Second World War.
Frans had a Jewish friend whose name is unknown and who was arrested and
killed in the Holocaust.
