Ethel Pilcher (December 5, 1885 – June 10, 1960) was a “mannish-looking” woman, known as “Bucky”. She worked as a school principal and lived for years with “her friend”, Miss Mabelle Stuart Walker, a social worker. According to the 1940 census, they lived together at 1774 Chuckatuck Petersburg, Petersburg City, Virginia.
Pilcher was the daughter of John Mason Pilcher (1841–1924) and Mary Lucy Duval (1845–1904). She was the great-aunt of gay activist George Clinton "Clint" Pyne.
She taught for many years and was a principal of Stuart and A.P. Hill Schools.
