Cora Porter Soverhill Atwood (December 17, 1884 - March 11, 1952) inherited her aunt, Susan Porter’s summer house in Cooksville and carried on the Cooksville Old Settlers traditions. A founder of the county historical society, Atwood compiled many notebooks from the scrapbooks of news clippings and other ephemera kept by local women.
Cora Porter Soverhill was the daughter of Sanford Soverhill (1856–1919) and Anna Gertrude Porter (1862–1933). Atwood is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville. When she died, Marvin Raney inherited her collection of local history materials and continued to add to and organize them.
