Cecchino dei Bracci (1527 – January 8, 1544) , a student of Michelangelo, died at age 16. His uncle,
Luigi del Riccio, distraught at the death of the youth, prevailed on
Michelangelo to write 40 verses as a tribute. He also designed the sepulture.
He is buried inside the Chiesa di Santa Maria di Aracoeli (Scala dell'Arce Capitolina, 00186 Roma).
