Bertha Lydia Caswell (1859 - June 16, 1923) was assistant cashier at Wellesley College. There were 53 important women faculty at Wellesley College between 1900 and 1910 with their influence lasting into the late 1920s. Only one of the 53 professors (Puffer) married and her experience was a warning to the others. She had to leave Wellesley and no other college would hire her. She wrote a few journal articles but her career was functionally over.
Caswell died at her home in Wellesley and was buried in Taunton, Bristol County.
